FAQ
Prices & quotes
How much does a carport cost in Gauteng?
A single steel carport of about 18 m² (3 m x 6 m) costs from about R18 700 excl. VAT, supplied and installed. A double of about 36 m² (6 m x 6 m) costs from about R29 200 excl. VAT. Use the calculator on this page for the price of your exact size, design and area.
How do I get a quote?
Request a quote on our contact page or WhatsApp us, ideally with a few photos and rough measurements. That gives you an idea of the cost; we then visit the site to measure before the final quote.
Work out your price on our carport prices page: choose a design, roof sheeting and size, and the price shows straight away. Then press Request this quote, or send it to us on WhatsApp.
A deposit secures your job and books your installation, which starts about 7 business days later. The final payment is made once your carport is finished and you have signed it off.
The calculator shows every price both excl. VAT and incl. VAT, so you can see both.
The cost of a gate in Gauteng varies widely based on size, mechanism and materials. A basic pedestrian gate can start from a few thousand rand, while custom-designed driveway gates or heavy-duty industrial systems can cost significantly more.
To give you an accurate quote, a professional installer needs to calculate costs based on your specific security, functional and aesthetic requirements.
When calculating the final price of your gate installation, several main factors come into play:
- Type of movement: sliding gates require tracks and rollers, while swing gates require heavy-duty hinges and clearance space. Sliding gates are often more practical for sloped driveways.
- Dimensions: both the total length (width) and height dictate the amount of raw material needed and the structural reinforcement required.
- Material choice: standard steel and wrought iron are durable and common. Custom wood inserts, specialised anti-rust coatings or lightweight aluminium will alter the price.
- Automation & security: adding a gate motor (like Centurion systems), backup batteries, anti-theft cages, intercoms or safety beams adds to the upfront cost.
- Site preparation: the complexity of the installation - such as excavating for a sliding track, casting concrete ground beams or clearing slopes - impacts labour fees.
Because every property in Gauteng has unique terrain and security needs, the best approach is to request a site assessment.
When you contact us for a quote, please have these basic details ready:
- The approximate length and height you need.
- Your preference between a sliding or swing operation.
- Whether you require automation (motorised opening).
Our team will then evaluate your ground levels and structural requirements to provide a precise, no-obligation estimate.
Carports
What size is a single or a double carport?
Our carports start at 3 m x 5.5 m. A single carport is usually about 3 m wide and 5.5 m to 6 m deep, and a double about 6 m x 6 m (36 m²). We make every carport to measure, so any size in between - or bigger - is possible.
How long does it take to install a carport?
We install about 18 m² of carport a day, so a single carport usually takes one day on site and a double about two days.
We install across Gauteng - including Pretoria, Centurion, Johannesburg, Sandton, Midrand, the East Rand and the Vaal. The towns we cover are listed on this page. Not listed? Ask us anyway.
Building plans and council approval are arranged by you, the property owner. Please check with your local municipality before the work starts.
Yes. A side fixed to a wall needs fewer posts, which also lowers the price. In the calculator, open More options and choose Wall for that side.
Yes, we do removals, quoted separately. Removing a lapa costs more than a carport, as it is labour intensive, takes time and has to be taken down safely.
Yes, as extras. Electrical work is done by a qualified electrician we bring in, and any type of floor - paving, concrete or other - is laid by a contractor we work with. Ask for these when you request your quote.
Gates & automation
Sliding or swing gate - which is better?
A sliding gate needs space along the wall beside the opening; a swing gate needs space for the gate to open into the property. On the site visit we look at your driveway and tell you which suits it.
Can you automate my existing gate?
Often, yes. A gate has to run smoothly before a motor goes on, so we check it on the site visit and tell you if anything needs fixing first. A photo on WhatsApp helps us give you an idea before we come out.
Yes. Every opening is a little different, so we measure on the site visit and make the gate to fit.
Yes - see our gate automation page. It is easiest to plan the motor when the gate is made, but we can also automate an existing gate.
Fences & balustrades
Clear View or palisade?
Palisade is strong and familiar; Clear View is see-through and harder to climb, with a neater look. On the site visit we can talk through which suits your property.
Yes - we make pedestrian and driveway gates to match the fence, and can automate a driveway gate.
Yes - handrails for stairs and walkways, on their own or as part of a balustrade.
Awnings
Usually, yes - most awnings are fixed to the wall of the house. Where a wall cannot carry it, we add posts. We check this on the site visit.
